Adilshashi and Qutubshahi were been trying to take over Nizamshahi and Shahaji Raje tried saving Nizamshahi from being annexed. At the end the Fort was acquired by Adilshashi. It was brought under the Maratha Empire as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj conquered it. Then after it was annexed by Mughal in the treaty of Purandar between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Mughals. Later it was once again won by Maratha. In 1818, this fort was captured by British. And presently it is in jurisdiction of Govt. Of Maharashtra.
